This four-unit guide is intended to teach elementary and secondary students responsibility and some of the benefits and costs of responsible behavior.
          Abstract
The first unit defines responsibility and examines common sources of responsibilities. The focus is on upbringing, promises, occupation, law, customs, and civic and moral principles. The second unit explores benefits and costs of fulfilling responsibilities, while the third unit provides ideas on how to choose which responsibilities to fulfill. The final unit covers who should be considered responsible. Ten lessons are contained in the four units. Each unit includes evaluation exercises, enrichment activities, and ideas intended to make students think critically about their responsibilities.
