PROPOSED REVISION OF THE FEDERAL CRIMINAL CODE AND ITS POTENTIAL IMPACT ON DRUG ABUSE AND ORGANIZED CRIME.
Abstract
THE REVISION WOULD RESTORE THE DEATH PENALTY FOR CERTAIN FEDERAL CRIMES, REQUIRE MINIMUM SENTENCES FOR MAJOR TRAFFICKERS IN DRUGS, AND REQUIRE FEDERAL JUDGES TO CONSIDER THE DANGER TO THE COMMUNITY BEFORE FREEING ON BAIL A SUSPECT FOR HEROIN TRAFFICKING. THE PRESIDENT ALSO EMPHASIZED THE DECISION TO CONTINUE TO HAVE CRIMINAL SANCTIONS AGAINST THE POSSESSION, SALE OR USE OF MARIJUANA.
