This paper presents the results of a review of research on coordinated community response (CCR) program components for female victims of intimate partner violence.
Abstract
This review of research on the individual components of coordinated community response (CCR) programs for female victims of intimate partner violence (IPV) found a significant lack of research on the various components of CCR. In addition, the review found that the research on the integration of CCR services is limited and that theoretical guidance for CCR programs is practically non-existent. The primary goals of this review were to provide an overview of the extent of the problem of IPV among women, review the major components of CCR programs and describe the research and findings on the effectiveness of these components, and discuss the findings from the review with suggestions for future research. The main components of CCR programs identified and discussed in this paper are advocacy, the criminal justice system, child services, health care, counseling, vocational services, and educational and media interventions. The directions for future research presented in this paper include examination of barriers to service utilization/ underserved populations; research on components of CCRs and their integration; and theoretical considerations.
