CASE STUDIES AND COMMENTS ON TYPES OF PAROLEES, DECISION-MAKING, RECIDIVISM, AND FACTORS INVOLVED IN POSSIBLE SUCCESS OR FAILURE.
Abstract
CASE STUDIES ARE PRESENTED TO ILLUSTRATE VARIOUS CONCERNS AND EXPERIENCES OF THE MASSACHUSETTS PAROLE BOARD. THESE CASE STUDIES GIVE ILLUSTRATIONS OF THE TYPICAL PROBLEM ENCOUUNTERED BY PAROLEES, THE NATURE OF THE CRIMES COMMITTED, HISTORIES OF DELINQUENCY, AND AN INSIGHT TO THE PREDICTION METHODS USED BY BOARD MEMBERS IN DECIDING WHETHER AN INDIVIDUAL SHOULD BE RELEASED. THESE STUDIES SHOW THE IMPORTANCE OF VARIOUS FACTORS, GOOD JOB, A FAMILY THAT CARES, NATURE OF CRIME COMMITTED, ALCOHOLISM, AND HOMOSEXUALITY IN PAROLE SUCCESS OR FAILURE.
