Funding from the Paul Coverdell National Forensic Sciences Improvement Act Grant was used by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation to purchase a Clarus 500 Headspace Gas Chromatograph, an instrument used to analyze chemical composition.
Abstract
Prior to the purchase of this instrument, the average turnaround time for a methamphetamine case was 11 weeks. Since the purchase of the gas chromatograph, an average of four cases is completed per week.
