1982 Task Force on Victims of Crime

The President's Task Force on Victims of Crime, appointed by President Ronald Reagan, releases its final report recommending measures at the federal, state and local levels to improve crime victims' status in the criminal justice system. Among the recommendations are proposals for crime victim compensation programs and local victim assistance programs supported by federal funds. The national Crime Victims Fund is established in 1984 through passage of the Victims of Crime Act.
